Ultrasound is widely used in clinical practice to examine many organs and systems. The method has no contraindications, it distinguishes:

  • no radiation load,
  • non-invasive,
  • the possibility of one-time study of various organs and systems,
  • as well as monitoring,
  • and, most importantly, this technique is characterized by high diagnostic efficiency.

At RSSC MEDZDRAVNYTSYA we perform the following ultrasound examinations: echocardioscopy (ECHO-CS), ultrasound of the thyroid gland, duplex scanning of the main arteries of the head and neck (Duplex MAG), ultrasound of the lungs and ultrasound-controlled stress tests. Let’s focus on some of them.

Decades of clinical and physical research have clearly demonstrated that ultrasound (US) can detect interstitial lung disease, subpleural consolidation, and acute respiratory distress syndrome, regardless of the cause. Recent data from published studies indicate the effectiveness of the use of ultrasound for the diagnosis, monitoring and follow-up of patients with COVID-19. Ultrasound can assess the regression of the disease and may help physicians decide on the prescribed treatment for COVID-19. Patients with COVID19-associated pneumonia have a long history of interstitial syndrome or signs of pulmonary fibrosis as a final event, with mild pulmonary symptoms such as shortness of breath, with no changes on CT or X-ray.

Ultrasound – controlled stress tests.

Exercise is a physiological stress that can detect disorders of the cardiovascular system, which are not at rest. Given this, the load can be used to assess the functional state of the circulatory system. The protocol of the test includes:

Test with dosed exercise: on the treadmill track,
with real-time ECG monitoring and recording. ECHO-CS is performed before and after loading.

Ultrasound examination allows to obtain additional data, in the absence of changes in the ECG, which may affect the assessment of tolerance to exercise and the amount of allowable exercise.

It allows to detect small anomalies (WD) and congenital malformations (bicuspid aortic valve, interventricular septal defect) of the cardiovascular system, which have not been previously diagnosed. Therefore, we emphasize the performance of stress tests under the control of ultrasound of the heart.
